ZPower is dedicated to innovating change in the field of battery technology. With its award-winning silver, zinc and water-based chemical makeup, ZPower offers a battery that delivers high performance while safely powering portable devices. The battery’s aqueous technology also creates an earth-friendly, recyclable product that reduces environmental impact.

In the area of performance, ZPower batteries offer an extremely high ratio of energy to volume (Wh/l) in applications such as notebook computers, cell phones, and consumer electronics. In fact, ZPower is the only rechargeable battery that beats lithium-ion in energy density for consumer applications. And, while Lithium-ion technology is reaching a plateau, ZPower batteries have plenty of runway to increase both energy density and cycle life.

ZPower silver-zinc batteries have an intrinsically safe water-based chemistry that contains no lithium or flammable solvents. Unlike lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries, ZPower batteries are free from the problems of thermal runaway, fire, and danger of explosion. ZPower batteries are also free from the regulations that limit the size of lithium-containing batteries on airplanes.

In addition to offering high-performance and safety, ZPower batteries use an environmentally friendly chemistry that allows battery cells to be recycled and the contents reused. Unlike other traditional batteries, ZPower batteries have no heavy metals and no toxic chemicals. That means silver-zinc is green-clean.

ZPower is led by company president and CEO, Dr. Ross Dueber, a former Vice President of Emerson Climate Technologies who, during his eight year tenure at Emerson conducted strategic planning, worked on venture capital investments, and built a new specialty business unit. Dr. Dueber also had a successful career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force which included R&D and specification of batteries for aircraft and space applications and a professorship in chemistry at the Air Force Academy. He also served as the manager for lithium-ion batteries at Eagle Picher where he established a new development and production group in the mid 1990’s.

Today, ZPower, Inc. holds 16 key patents on rechargeable silver-zinc battery technology. The company has strategic partnerships with, and venture investments from, IntelTM Corporation, OnPointTM Technologies--a venture capital fund of the US Army, and PowerVentures--a large private equity group.
